Does the word fish hook send shudders down your spine?

Does the word fish hook send shudders down your spine?

bonds-

not your underwear.

but actual bonds

i did a training once, with some beautiful girls who are hopefully reading this and remembering it,

i was on a rant- as i often am about the state of our industry, and i mentioned hydrogen bonds. they thought i meant the bomb dropped on hiroshima.

I see progression in our industry every day,  and regression.

i was trained as an apprentice when you didn’t dare talk back to your boss, you scrubbed floors like a trooper and unfolded perm papers to reuse, and if you got through that jar of them, god help you, go wind a perm on that dolls head.

which is where i hear you shudder at the very thought of a perm…

but more than just making sure you didn’t have fish hooks, or uneven tension- and my boss used to wait till my dolls head was dry to unwind that sucker.

you didn’t want an invite to the laundry with her.

poor kids of today.

back to my rant- perming was also about dexterity, the strength of your fingers, and your ability to change a bond.

a disulphide bond to be precise.

you broke the hydrogen bond with water, and wound the hair around the rods.

the solution then broke the disulphide bonds.

once rinsed, and neutralised the bonds were reformed, but in their new shape.

This was a permanent bond change, like chemical straightening which is basically the same process as a perm..the breaking and reforming of disulphide bonds…

perms were permanent, until now….

enter 2024…and artego parameter T

a revolution in perming, this bad boy is a SEMI permanent perm…

instead of breaking disulphide bonds, parameter T works with cysteine bonds-

creating a link in between the waves, a semi permanent link that breaks down over time.

hence no neutraliser is needed…

it’s a softer perm than the traditional wave, and it’s amazing for the little oldies who still like colour and a perm, the hair is healthier because we aren’t breaking the traditional bonds.

Being a bit softer it’s a good idea to drop a rod size, as a big blue rod isn’t going to achieve much wave at all, a red rod will

give you more of a blue result..

the Parameter T comes in a box of 2 units, and is applied as a mousse to the wound hair, traditional S bend testing is required to time when it’s ready to be rinsed, and rinsed for a minimum of 10 minutes.

You get approx 14 applications out of the two units, which is more affordable than a traditional perm too.

with perms making a comeback this is a great option for anyone not wanting to commit to a permanent wave!
