Olaplex, the original game changer....

Olaplex....the product that changed the hairdressing world back in 2014...

Invented in a humble garage by two mad scientists...and a hairdressers idea of creating an ingredient that could repair broken disulfide bonds...

And didnt it change the industry...

But what are disufide bonds?

Different to hydrogen and salt bonds- which are broken and reformed by moisture- thats why hair goes fuzzy in humidity as the bonds are broken, and same in the shower if you just wet your hair down, and dont use a leave in conditioner to seal the cuticle down, disulfide bonds cant be broken or reformed with water.

Hair has millions of disulfide bonds which give it its structure, strength and stability.

When these bonds are broken, the hair is damaged, dry, frizzy, and brittle.

So how are these bonds broken?

Repeated chemical processes, pushing the boundaries with bleach, hair irons, the environment, all of the above can break the bonds.

Olaplex's patented ingredient reforms broken disulfide bonds, and whilst there are a lot of "bond" products on the market today, no one can use the active ingredient in olaplex Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate.

What started as a small range, for salon only use, has grown into an extensive range, covering all hair types..

When used in a professional environment Olaplex 1 and 2, ensure that the hairdresser and the client acheive the best results when chemical services are taking place, allowing the client to maintain healthy hair even when powder lightener is used on the hair..  This doesnt give us the excuse to push the boundaries on already stressed hair, or to use 40 vol and bleach, because "Ive got olaplex" - yes- I have heard that before....

You still as a stylist need to maintain the integrity of the hair, and your reputation..

So why the take home products...

As mentioned earlier, heat, excessive brushing, environment, are all also causes of broken bonds, so to keep the hair in optimum conditon between salon visits, there is a range of take home hair care products, with no 3 being the most concentrated in the range.

All of the olaplex range contains Bis-Amino, thus ensuring that even if your client is only using the styling products, they are still repairing broken bonds whilst using them, and if you have never used No 6 Smoothing Cream, omg- love love love that product for smooth silky hair.

We have been priviliaged to stock Olaplex since 2017, when Haircare invited us to stock the range, at first I was dubious, but after researching and trialling the product on my own frizzy bleached hair, I was convinced.

We did an experiment on curly hair, you know when its curly from roots to mid lengths, but gets ratty and straight towards the ends- those broken bonds again...

We did a stand alone treatment on a client, and were amazed to see how much curl reformed on those damaged ends with the stand alone treatment- which your client can replicate at home with No 0 and no 3 combined...

Its one of the most versatile and known products on the market now, and an essential in any back room, tried and tested over time.

Definitely an investment into your craft, and a great retail product for your clients to take home to keep that beautiful colour you created healthy, after all that is your walking advertisment isnt it...

If you havent invested in Olaplex before, jump on board, and get some in your salon today!
