Too many people want the result without putting in the effort of doing the ground work. They forget about the basics and the foundation of the hair structure.
Then they blame the product when they don’t get the result they are looking for. Or the result created is from a lack of understanding the colour wheel. I had a staff member who had client notes stating that clients hair can go green/matte. Her formula was a mixture of ash (blue) and gold (yellow), how can basic colour theory be forgotten?
Why do people choose not to further educate themselves on excelling in their craft? Be it colour, cutting, styling, business?
The outlay might seem like a lot, but the pay off in the long run is the end game.
Personally in the last two years I invested $12k on my skills and increased my pricing by 20% this financial year to reflect my skills and the current inflation from my colour brand.
We love what we do. So why don’t we invest in what we love? Why aren’t we investing in the next generation of hairdressers? Why are we still undervaluing our skills and not charging our worth?
